APCC suspends 4 Congress MLAs
Hyderabad, May 6 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today suspended four Congress MLAs for causing the defeat of the party candidates in the recently held Legislative Council elections in the state.
The suspended Congress MLAs were Naresh Agarwal representing Ichapuram constitutency, Chandrasekhar Reddy from Udayagiri, A Prabhakar Reddy and K Lakshmaiah Naidu representing Surgvepalli and Atmakur constituencies respectively.
The APCC had suspended the four MLAs for allegedly violating the directions of the party and supporting opposition party candidates during the elections.
Another Congress leader and Srikakulam Zilla Parishad Vice Chairman D Srinivas was also suspended from the party. The APCC had asked the suspended leaders to give an explanation on their anti party activities during the council elections within 15 days.
The APCC also issued showcause notice to Shad Nagar MLA Shankar Rao for making remarks against the government and Chief Minister Rajasekhara Reddy for not being inducted into the cabinet, during its recent expansion.
