Truck driver kidnapped and killed

Silchar, May 5 (UNI) A Guwahati-bound truck driver was kidnapped on NH-44 in Cachar district of Asom last night and later killed, police said here today.

The body of Ajay Boro(35), a resident of Khergaon in Baska district in Asom, was recovered with multiple injures, from Shalchapra area here this morning, police added.

Boro's truck was stranded, along with hundreds of other vehicles, due to damage of a bailey bridge over Baleswer river in Malidahar since last Tuesday.

Police said that an operation was on to nab the miscreants. They have ruled out the possibility of the involvement of any militant outfit and instead suspected that some local criminal may have been reponsible for Boro's murder.
