Ten persons injured in clashes at Jhargram
Midnapore, May 5 (UNI) Two scribes and eight party activists were injured in a clash between the supporters of CPI(M) and Trinamul Congress (TMC) at Aguiboni village under Jhargram police station in this district, police said.
Sub-divisional Officer, Jhargram, Eron Ebrahim Israel said the injured were admitted toa local hospital. Condition of five people was stated to be critical.
Five persons had been arrested so far in this connection, the SDO added.
The clash was sequel to Thursday's alleged ransacking of a TMC office at Aguiboni village in which two TMC supporters were injured.
The TMC party flag was downed from the party office and a red flag hoisted in its place on Thursday which led to the series of clashes, the SDO said.
However, the CPI(M) supporters claimed that the party office once belonged to them was subsequently captured by the TMC supporters.
District TMC president Mrigen Maity denied this.
Tension was still prevailing the area following the clashes.
