State human rights commission to be set up soon: Home Minister

Davangere, May 5 (UNI) A three-member state human rights commission will be instituted shortly, Home Minister M P Prakash said today.

Addressing reporters at Chigateri in this district, after inaugurating a new police station, the Home Minister said that meetings with the opposition leaders and chairmen of both the houses were held in this regard. The government had finalised two names, while the third member was yet to be identified, he said.

Mr Prakash, who was also the President of State unit of the Janata Dal(S), said that Party National President H D Deve Gowda would choose the candidate for Deputy Ministership after JD(S) hand over the Chief Ministership to BJP as per the agreement arrived before the coalition was formed in Karnataka.
