Six Pak prisoners repatriated

Wagah, May 5 (UNI) The Indian government repatriated six Pakistani civil prisoners through this joint border road check post late last evening, Border Security Force (BSF) officials stated today.

The six prisoners were handed over to the Pakistan Rangers by the BSF after completion of the necessary formalities. BSF Deputy Commandant Jagdish Sharan signed the necessary documents on behalf of the Indian government, while Col Wajahid of the Sutlej Rangers signed for his government.

The six prisoners who were repatriated included Nahir Ahmed of Sialkot, Mohammed Zabeer of Kasur and Abdul Razaaq of Khanpur, all of whom were brought from Jammu central jail. The other three were Zahir Shah of Kasur and Haji of Gulabai who were brought from a jail in Gujarat and Maqbool Haq of Lahore who was under detention in Tihar jail.

All the six captives had completed their jail terms. Civil officers of the Punjab government were also present when they were handed over.
