Sandeep Singh calls on Hooda

Chandigarh, May 5 (UNI) Noted Indian hockey player Sandeep Singh, who was injured after being shot accidentally near Kurukshetra in a moving Shatabdi Express Train in August last year, called on Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here today to express his gratitude for the timely help provided by the state government for his treatment.

He was accompanied by his father Gurcharan Singh, mother Daljit Kaur and brother Vikramjit Singh.

Mr Hooda blessed Sandeep and wished him success in his future ventures.

Sandeep's parents and brother were all praise for the timely help provided by the Haryana government and the initiative taken by Mr Hooda to save his life.

It may be recalled that after getting information of Sandeep being injured, Mr Hooda had himself rang up the Director of the PGI Chandigarh to ensure that the international hockey player got proper treatment.

The state government had provided an immediate financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to his family and thereafter gave them an aid of another Rs two lakh.
