Ahmedabad, May 5: The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court of Ahmedabad today extended till May 8, the police remand of three IPS officials, arrested on charges of killing an alleged criminal Sohrabuddin Sheikh in a fake encounter in November 2005.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate K J Upadhyay extended the police remand of D G Vanjhara, (Deputy Inspector General Gujarat Border Range), R K Pandian (Superintendent in Intelligence Bureau) and Dinesh Kumar (Rajasthan Police) till May eight.

The prosecution had sought the extension in police remand to conduct brain mapping and narco-analysis tests on the arrested police officials.

The prosecution told the court that they needed more time in view of the fact that a senior crime branch officer was present when Kausar Bi, was killed by Sohrabuddin.

It had sought five days' extension but was granted time till May eight.

The three IPS officers face charges of murdering a Madhya Pradesh-based alleged LeT criminal Sohrabuddin Sheikh in a fake encounter on November 26, 2005 on the outskirts of Ahmedabad city.

They were arrested by the CID (Crime) on April 24.
