Police fire teargas on demonstrators in Srinagar
Srinagar, May 5 (UNI) Police fired teargass shells and resorted to repeated baton charges to disperse stone pelting demonstrators in the down town city this afternoon.
Youths took to streets at Nowhatta and other down town areas this afternoon in protest against the alleged Human Rights violations by security forces and attrocities by surrendered militants.
They also demanded action against the security force jawan who opened fire on demonstrators, injuring one person, yesterday.
As the demonstrators turned violent and pelted stones, police resorted to lathicharge. Later they fired teargass shells to disperse them.
A number of demonstrators and police personnel were injured, official sources said.
