One killed, another injured in Mumbai

Mumbai, May 5 (UNI) A contract labourer was killed and another injured when the suspended rope gave in, while they were cleaning the glass of 'Top Security' office situated on sixth floor at Aarey Colony in the western suburbs.

Police said deceased Mohammed Kadir Mohammed Hajibul (28) and injured Najrul Jumruddin Sheikh (22), were asked by their employer to clean glasses of the office from outside.

When they were cleaning the glass at around 1600 hours yesterday, the thread of the suspended rope broke resulting in their fall, killing Hajibul instantly, while Sheikh sustained severe injuries, police said here today.

Shaikh has been admitted to civil hospital in Borivali.

Police have arrested four persons - contractor Ganedreakumar Jagdish Narayandas (45), sub-contractor Mutalik alias Hasan Mohammed Yasim (35), contract labourer Hiyaji Abdulhuq Hussain (22) and supervisor Mahesh Shyamsuder Pardeshi (32) - for asking the deceased and the injured to do the job without providing adequate life safety measures, police added.

UNI
