NTRO to come up in AP

Hyderabad, May 5 (UNI) The prestigious National Technical Research Organisation (NTRO), the first of its kind in Asia, will be set up in or around Hyderabad, a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy at the Secretariat decided today.

The NTRO, which comes under the National Security Adviser in the Prime Minister's Office, would engage in the development and deployment of systems for national security. It's activities include aviation and remote sensing, data gathering and processing, cyber security, crypto systems, strategic hardware and software development and strategic monitoring, an official release said.

The NTRO, which also include National Institute of Cryptology Research and Development (NICRD) would create a pool of experts in information security for industry and government. It would design and develop encryption productions of national security applications.

It would have state-of-the-art laboratories like stimulation labs and digital fortress labs for financial security and would enter into a strong tie-up with academic institutions and industries.

The NICRD would have headquarters in Hyderabad with residential campus centres in other parts of the country.

Apart from NICRD, the NTRO would include National Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NIIPC), which provide cutting edge R and D in the area of critical information protection.

The NTRO would have Aero-space and remote sensing centres, which would deploy sophisticated unmanned aerial vehicles for internal security.

A Disaster Recovery Centre would be included to disseminate informations for national security-related activities.

The Centre would create security-related professionals, products and services as a spin-off to various other sectors of economy, the release added.
