New born deaths: Include experts from outside in inquiry

Kottayam, May 5 (UNI) The Kerala Government Hospital Workers Union today said the Government should include experts from outside in the committee that inquired into the death of new borns in the Sree Avitam Thirunal Hospital.

Addressing a news conference to announce the commencing of the 37th State conference of the Union from tomorrow, Union General Secretary K Krishnan Kutty and other leaders alleged that the private practice of Government doctors was the main reason for the present condition of Government hospitals and demanded an immediate ban on such private practice.

State Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan would inaugurate the three-day conference, in which about 500 delegates would participate. LDF Convener Vaikom Viswan, Health Minister P K Sreemathy, CITU Vice-President J Mercykuttyamma and other leaders would also be present, they said.
