Mulayam govt ruined UP : Congress

Lucknow, May 5(UNI) Congress today blamed the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh for the miseries of the common people and held the Samajwadi Party government responsible for the backwardness of the state's agriculture sector.

'' The marginal farmers of the state are under critical financial crisis due to low return of their agricultural produce resulting in several cases of suicides'', said Kapil Sibal, convenor of the National Media Committee of the AICC.

Addressing a press conference, the union minister for science and technology said the agricultural marketing system in the state is almost been ''dismantled'' while the productivity per hectare and area under cultivation remained stagnant.

'' Due to mismanagement of the agriculture produce, price of the foodgrains in the state has gone up and the hoarders are having a good time'', Mr Sibal claimed.

The Congress leader, replying to the allegation of SP General Secretary Amar Singh, said that he will resign from the Parliament if the SP government proves that they have given plot to him or his family members in Noida or any other place in UP.
