Major tragedy averted powerful IED recovered
Jammu, May 5 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police and army today averted a major tragedy when they detected a powerful IED from a passenger bus during checking at Lakhanpur border in Kathua district.
According to official sources, police and army, acting on a tip-off, intercepted a passenger bus at Kali Bari on its way from Pathankot to Jammu.
During checking, an unclaimed bag was found and searched. The items found in the bag included one stabiliser body fitted with two kgs of RDX, one detonator, five CDs, one small battery, Rs 900 in Indian currency, some documents pertaining to Indian Airlines, some telephone numbers, one laminated map, one khan dress, one white bed sheet and a towel.
Pal Singh, the bus driver, and the conductor, on being questioned, revealed that a tall aged person had boarded the bus with the bag and kept it in the baggage cabin at Lakhanpur.
Police are looking for the accused.
