Major ex-filtration bid foiled, five youths arrested in Kashmir

Baramulla, May 5 (UNI) Five Kashmiri teenagers arrested in the frontier district of Kupwara when they were heading towards the Line of Control (LoC) for crossing over to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) today.

Superintendent of Police (SP), Kupwara, told UNI that a tip off was received that a militant outfit has recruited some boys and were taking them to PoK for arms training in the camps there.

He said police successfully traced the boys and arrested them before they could ex-filtrate.

The boys were identified as Majid Khan, Naseem Raja (both students of 12th class), Umar Bashir Shah, Amir Sayed and Rauf Ahmad Sheikh ( all 10th class students).

He said all are residents of Anantnag who had travelled in different vehicles to reach Drugmulla, Kupwara.

This was the first major attempt by the militant groups to take Kashmiri boys to PoK for receiving arms training.
