TN: SL Govt passive on solving ethnic issue

Chennai, May 5: Former Sri Lankan Prime Minister and Opposition United National Party leader Ranil Wickremsinghe today alleged that the Mahinda Rajapakse Government in the island nation was not taking any firm action towards solving the ethnic issue there.

Mr Singhe, who arrived here from Dubai enroute to Colombo told mediapersons at the Airport that the situation in Sri Lanka was ''very bad'' and there was ''unrest'' among the people.

He said he would hold discussions with party leaders at Colombo and issue a detailed report on the situation there.

About finding a permanent solution to the ethnic issue, he said it could be achieved only through the intervention of India, U S and European countries.
