Lai Haraoba festival to be held in Myanmar
Imphal, May 5: A team of the Indo-Myanmar Fraternal Alliance would leave for Myanmar to participate in the Lai Haraoba festival (Festival of God), scheduled to begin from May 25 at Mandalay.
Offical sources yesterday said the team would participate in the festival of Yumjao Lairembi at Garve village, followed by other Lai Haraoba festivals of Pakhangba at Amrapura, Leimarel Sidabi, Nongpok Ningthou and Panthoibi at Nandaswe village.
The team would also visit Meitei settlements and Chiangmai villages inhabited by Shans(Pongs) around Mandalay.
Large numbers of Manipuris are settled in Myanmar.
