Jeweller looted in Thane

Thane, May 5 (UNI) A six-member gang looted a jewellery shop at Mira Road in Thane district late last evening and decamped with a booty worth about Rs 6 lakh.

Police said the gang members were armed with choppers and other weapons. The gang struck Ambika Jewellers at about 2230 hrs and attacked the owner of the shop, fleeing with gold and silver jewellery.

An employee, who intervened, was also attacked, police said. The the gang members hurled an explosive at the shop before fleeing.

The owner and the employee have been hospitalised. Police have made no arrests so far.
