MP: Central varsity status to Sagar university
Bhopal, May 5: Favouring central university status to the Madhya Pradesh's oldest university at Sagar, Governor Balram Jakhar has directed Dr Hari Singh Gaur University Vice Chancellor to send a proposal in this regard to the Union Human Resources Development Ministry.
The university set up by noted educationist and jurist Dr Hari Singh Gaur on July 18, 1946 has been awarded 'A' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Bangalore.
The Governor has congratulated Vice Chancellor Prof Dhirendra Pal Singh on the remarkable achievement of the university, the first such institution in the state to get NAAC's A grade.
The Council, in its report, said the Sagar University has registered remarkable progress in every concerning field.
The Sagar university is included among the country's best universities like Madras University and Benaras Hindu University, an official release said.
