Investiture of minor boys questioned in court
Udaipur, May 5 (UNI) The court of the Chief Judicial magistrate has postponed the next hearing of the initiation of four minor boys into jain priesthood to May 8.
Four minor boys belonging to Semad village in Gogunda tehsil were given 'diksha' on May 2 on the occassion of the 10th Maha Prangya of the Therapanth sect of Jains.
Advocates Hukum Singh Ranawat and Khanyalal Tak in their complaint pointed out that all four boys who were initated into Jain priesthood, were minors and they were incapable of taking a free and fair decision of their future. They pointed out that the investiture ceremony of these boys was in violation of the fundamental rights of the children.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate has posted the next hearing of the case to May 8.
