Guard drowns after derailment of Goods Train in North Bengal
Siliguri, May 5 (UNI) A guard of a goods train was killed when a wagon derailed at Kalzini river bridge in Dooars this morning, Northeast Frontier Railway sources said.
Sambhunath Dey, felled from his compartment into Kalzini river and drowned, when the break-van jumped off rails during crossing the bridge in Jalpaiguri district at 1100 hours .
NFR sources said the guard tumbled down into the river under the impact and drowned.
The driver of the good train was later rescued.
Two trains, Awadh Assam Express and Teesta-Torsa Express had been stranded at New coochbehar station due to the accident.
