GRP opens fire to nab snatcher

Buxar, May 5 (UNI) The Government Railway Police(GRP) today opened fire at Doriganj station under East Central Railway's Danapur division near here to prevent robbery, and arrested a criminal.

Police sources here said the incident occurred when a hardened criminal tried to flee after snatching a gold chain from a woman passenger of the down Howrah-Amritsar Express which arrived at Doriganj station for a brief halt.

Responding to her cry of help, the GRP men rushed in. Seeing them the criminal tried to flee forcing the personnel to fire in the air to scare him. The gold chain was recovered from him and returned to the victim, the sources added.
