Govt to construct houses for BPL people in four years: Minister
Palakkad, May 5 (UNI) Kerala Electricity Minister A K Balan today said the government would construct houses for all people Below Poverty Line (BPL) within four-years.
Talking to reporters here, he said about Rs 1.25 lakh BPL people would get the facility.
He said the government would construct 20,000 houses within one year and 5,000 houses would be built within three months.
Mr Balan, who is also the Minister of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and Backward classes said the Housing Board and Nirmidhi Kendra would construct the houses jointly.
Rs 35 crore had already been allotted.
He said the government also utilised the SC/ST grants allotted by the Centre.
About Pathrakadavu Hydroelectric Project, he said the government would look into environmental issues before taking a decision.
