Govinda waxes eloquent on Rahul Gandhi

Varanasi, May 5 (UNI) Film star-turned-MP Govinda today described young Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as a born world leader, ''who is blowing a fresh breeze of hope in Uttar Pradesh.'' Talking to UNI at the residence of his maternal uncle Rajendra Singh here this evening, Govinda said, ''Rahul Gandhi paidaishi vishwa neta hai'' (Mr Gandhi is a born world leader).

Queried about Rahul's prospects leading a Congress government in UP in future, Govinda said, ''He is a born world leader who will bring fame to his family and the entire country on the global stage in future.'' ''Woh pradesh ke kisi bhi pad se upar hai (he is above any post in Uttar Pradesh).'' On Congress' prospects in the ongoing UP Assembly poll, Govinda said, ''We should not go by the numbers for Congress in this election...but certainly the party's ideology is safe and prospering in the hands of Mr Gandhi in Uttar Pradesh.'' About chances of the Lok Sabha member from Mumbai (North) seat contesting general election from his 'Nanihal' (maternal districts) of Jaunpur or Varanasi, Govinda said ''whatever I am today is due to Lord Kashi Vishwanath, but I will never draw political mileage from the place my mother belonged to.'' ''Mai purab ka nati hoon...par isko rajnitik udhesya ki purti ke liya kabhi istamal nai karoonga,'' he observed.

Earlier, Govinda offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath and Kal Bhairav temples in the holy city.
