Gold rises, silver steady
Mumbai, May 5 (UNI) Gold today shot up by Rs 75 per ten gm on good demand from retailers even as Silver remained steady on moderate demand on the Bombay Bullion Exchange.
Silver fineness .999 opened low at Rs 18,955 per kg on lack of fresh demand. Later, it slightly improved and closed at Rs 18,970, the same figure of yesterday's close.
In London, Silver edged up to USD 13.45/13.47 per troy ounce against USD 13.38/13.44 per troy ounce in New York.
Similarly, standard Gold (99.5) and pure Gold (99.9) also opened upward at Rs 9,155 and Rs 9,205 per ten gm on higher advice.
Later, the yellow metal inched up and closed at Rs 9,155 and Rs 9,205 per ten gm with a gain of Rs 75 for standard Gold and pure Gold from their last close.
In London, Gold advanced further to USD 687.00/689.00 per troy ounce as compared to USD 680.00/684.00 per troy ounce in New York on Friday.
