Hyderabad, May 5 (UNI) AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh today termed the fake passport racket, involving people's representatives, as ''most shameful''.

In an informal chat with newspersons, Mr Singh, who came here to attend a marriage, said the racket was a blemish on the character of all politicians. Stating that he was very much disappointed by the turn of events, he said it brought down the prestige of the entire nation.

He said those MPs and MLAs, who were involved in the scam, deserved most stringent punishment.

Asked about the reported dissidence among senior legislators who could not find place in the recent expansion of the AP cabinet, Mr Singh, who is also in-charge of AP affairs, said while posts were limited, aspirants were many. He, however, denied any dissidence activity but said Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was capable of handling it even if there was any.

Several Congress leaders met Mr Singh, who is reported to have advised them to set their differences aside and work for the victory of the party in the ensuing elections for the Greater Hyderabad.
