Fake NCB personnel held for trying to kidnap one

Ranaghat, May 05 (UNI) Six persons, posing as Narcotic Control Bureau personnel, tried to kidnap a person for ransom at Dhantala in Nadia district last night, police today said.

They said the miscreants approached Babu Biswas, a drug addict working in a tea stall. They demanded Rs one lakh. But as Biswas failed to pay up the men kidnapped him.

As news of the abduction spread local people rushed out and stopped the culprits midway. They informed the Dhantala police who arrested the kidnappers on charges of cheating. They were later sent to the Ranaghat Sub-divisional court.
