EC rushes eight special observers for May 8 polling

Lucknow, May 5(UNI) Election Commission has rushed eight special observers in five districts out of the total nine where the last phase of assembly polls is scheduled to be held on May 8.

Of the total eight special observers, three will be deployed in Deoria district alone.

State additional CEO Devesh Chaturvedi said here today that Commissioner Allahabad Prabhash Kumar Jha and IG Kanpur Javid Ahmed will supervise in Deoria while Commissioner Meerut J S Deepak will be at Ballia.

EC has also identified five sensitive constituencies where one special observers would be deployed.

The constituencies are Paniyara in Maharajganj district, Mubarakpur in Azamgarh district, Dauba in Ballia district, Deoria city in Deoria district and Jhangiraganj in Ambedkarngar district.

Mr Chaturvedi said that all the special observers would reach their destination tonight.
