Chennai, May 5 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Boiler and Components Manufacturers and Users Association (TNBCMUA) has urged the state government to create a Speical Economic Zone (SEZ) for boiler industries to meet the growing demands in the coming years.

Talking to newspersons here in connection with the 'Boilers 2007' to be held at the Trade Centre here from May 11 to 13, Association President B Pattabiraman said the boiler industry had touched only the tip of the ice berg and had tremendous potential to grow in the coming years.

Like the services sector, boiler industry was also poised for growth in the next five to seven years, he said adding the government should encourage the industry by creating SEZ and announcing concessions in the form of land and tax holidays.

He said the 'Boilers 2007' would provide an excellent opportunity for the exhibitors to make live demonstration of their products and make product presentations. "A rich variety of equipment, accessories and testing equipment are likely to be exhibited," he said.

Giving details of the additional power generation plans, he said with the significant segment of this addition expected to come from the thermal power plants, the Indian boiler industry was looking up to a sustained growth in the decade ahead.

He said the Indian boiler industry would continue to focus on supplying eco friendly boilers, with increased cycle efficiency requirements at optimal costs.

'Boiler 2007' would be an opportunity for overall improvement of the industry and all its stakeholders, he added.
