Congress condemns Vasundhara Raje for not holding talks with Badal
Jaipur, May 5 (UNI) The Congress today condemned Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje for her ''failure' in getting clear assurance from Punjab on Rajasthan's due share in river water and for not holding talks with her Punjab counterpart on this contentious issue during her visit to the neighbouring state.
Party state president B D Kalla said, in a statement here, that SAD=BJP coalition in Punjab had categorically stated that being non riparian state Rajasthan had no legitmate right over Punjab's river water.
Mr Kalla said that Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was adamant for not allowing river water to flow to Rajasthan and Mrs Raje was busy in making mere verbal statements.
Instead of this, she should have held talks with her Punjab counterpart on the issue during her visit to Punjab to inspect canal areas yesterday, Mr Kalla said.
It is to recall that Mrs Raje had undertaken tour of Harike and Hussainiwala head works of the canal in Ferozepur and Tarn Taran districts of Punjab yesterday.
Mrs Raje had told reporters at Harike head works that her government would make all efforts with the Punjab Government to ensure Rajasthan's due share in river waters from Punjab.
