CII to focus on Information Technology, Tourism

Visakhapatnam, May 5: The Vizag Chapter of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Chairman and Managing Director of Lazarus Hospitals Verma Vagesna today said focus would be on IT and tourism sector in the CII road show in the city.

He said that the arrangements were being made for Academia-Industry interface on a regular basis to understand the industries requirement and make the students globally competitive.

"Apart from that, we would be taking up various skill development initiatives for students who have passed tenth standard, in areas like food and beverages and housekeeping to make them employable," he said.

The CII would also be involving its centre of excellences in Hyderabad and Bangalore to train ancillaries attached to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant to form a cluster so that they would meet the global standards, he added.

Dr Varma said the focus area would be cost management and quality control. The CII-city chapter would take the initiative to project the tourism potential of the city at various forums in Delhi and Hyderabad, he said.

The Andhra Pradesh CII Chairman Pradeeep Dhobale, and Divisional Chief Executive of ITC gave a brief presentation on the history and the future presepectives of the Confederation.
