Kolkata, May 5 (UNI) Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has launched "Building People Building India" in search of talents and retain them for Indian owned industry.

''The greatest challenge that Indian industry is beginning to grapple with - be it in small, medium or large sectors - the talent acquisition and retention,'' CII's Eastern Region chairman Biswadip Gupta told at a news conference today.

Interacting with reporters, after being elected as the chairman CII(ER) recently, Mr Gupta said though Indian industries were doing well but they were experiencing a crunch of personnel and talent availibity.

He said most meritorious and talented candidates, who graduate from top management and technical schools prefer the multi-national companies because of their huge remuneration and other perks.

He, however, said this could be reversed or corrected since India has the largest number of young population in the world. For this the CII has undertaken four missions - knowledge and skill, manufacturing innovation, sustainable growth and inclusive growth.

The approach would be to work towards identifying manpower needs, talent gaps and to hone skill and talent.

Mr Gupta said that every sector would be catered to - manufacturing, IT, ITES, telecom, BPO, engineering processes outsourcing, retail and agri-business.

On the West Bengal front, a new team of CII(ER) has called on Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee recently and discussed how to achieve growth in all sectors in the state.
