CCIBBF decides not to fence Pyrdiwah village
Shillong, May 5 (UNI) The Coordination Committee on Indo-Bangla Border Fencing (CCIBBF) in Meghalaya has decided not to fence Pyrdiwah village, near the Indo-Bangla border as the area falls under 'adverse possession'.
The decision was taken yesterday during the border inspection by the CCIBBF, headed by Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Donkupar Roy, who is also the Chairman of the Committee.
Dr Roy said, ''Since Pyrdiwah has been identified as an area falling under adverse possession so fencing would not be taken up there for the time being.'' Meanwhile, people from Umsyiem to Lyngkhat village welcomed the fencing of the international border.
However, they urged the government to erect the fence from the Zero point to ensure that there was no loss of land.
