Bypoll for two Assembly segments on June two

Imphal, May 5 (UNI) Byelection to Khundrakpam Assembly seat of Imphal East and Khangabok AC of Thoubal district will be held on June two.

The Chief Electoral Officer said here today that election for both the seats will take place the same day.

The byelections were necessitated following the death of NCP MLA Th Navakumar at Khundrakpam and vacating of Khangabok seat by Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh as the latter won from two segments - Khangabok and Thoubal.

The model code of conduct had also come into effect, the CEO said.

The date for issue of notification is May five and last date of filing nomination is May 15, while scrutiny of nomination will be held on May 16 and last date of withdrawal is May 18.

Counting of vote will take place on June five.

Electronic Voting Machines will be used for the polling.
