Gorakhpur, May 5 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former union minister Murli Manohar Joshi today supported the Allahabad High Court's decision on the minority issue, saying no country decides the status of minorities on the basis of religion.

Addressing mediapersons here, Dr Joshi said that it was wrong to asses the country's minority on the basis of religion. BJP has always been and is still against caste-based reservation policy,''he asserted.

Lambasting Congress, BSP and SP, the former union minister charged the three with supporting Muslim appeasement, to consolidate their vote bank.

The withdrawal of case against Students' Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) by the UP government has only spurred separatism in UP, he noted.

Calling BJP as the most ''appropriate'' party for UP, he said state's development is possble only under its regime.

Dr Joshi further said Kalyan Singh was the right choice for the CM's post, as all other hopefuls were facing criminal charges.

''There is a favourable wave for BJP and the party will definitely win the ongoing assembly poll. Our recent victories in Uttarakhand, Punjab and MCD elections prove it,'' he maintained.
