K'taka: BDC to hold conference on diabetes

Bangalore, May 5: The Bangalore Diabetes Club would organise a three-day DESERT-2007, a conference on Diabetes in the city from May 11 to discuss latest trends in care and prevention of the disease.

BDC Vice President V Shankar told newspersons here today that during the event would be attended by over 1000 doctors from all over the South India.

He said due to changing lifestyles in the recent years Diabetes had grown from academic to gigantic proportions in developing countries, particularly in India.

During the event the diabetic patients would also get an opportunity to have an interaction with the eminent doctors and clarify various problems relating to Diabetes. A public awareness campaign on diabetes also would be launched on the occasion, he said.
