Accused in Christian preacher assault case suspended

Jaipur, May 5 (UNI) A medical and health department employee, who allegedly assualted a Christian missionary preacher Walter Massey here, has been placed under suspension.

A medical department spokesman told UNI today that Virender Singh Rawana, a computer operator in medical directorate, had been placed under suspension.

The employee, said to be associated with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP), is absconding since the incident of attack on Massey on Sunday last.

Five accused who had been arrested for their involvement in the incident, had reportedly told the police during interrogation that they were put on the task by Rawana.

The opposition Congress state president B D Kalla had also demanded action against Rawana.

A total of seven accused have so far been arrested in connection with the incident.
