UP: 5 criminals arrested by GRP

Lucknow, May 5: Five members of notorious Jaherkuran gang, involved in a number of train robbery cases, have been arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) late last night, police said today.

According to sources, the criminals were arrested in a joint search operation by GRP Gonda and Basti districts. Three among the arrested criminals belong to Bihar.

However, two associates of the gang managed to escape.

The criminals used to rob the passengers, after giving them poisoned food, including tea and bisuits, police added.

During interrogation, the accused accepted the charges against them and said they robbed passengers in Bihar bound trains.
