2 held for cheating woman

Vijayawada, May 5 (UNI) The Vuyuru police has arrested two persons hailing from Bihar on charges of cheating a woman while polishing her gold ornaments here today.

A release from the city police commissioner tonight said the two accused, Umesh Kumar (23) and Santosh Kumar (22) went to the house of one A Arjamma and told her that they would polish her gold articles free of cost.

Arjamma who believed them, gave her nanutadu for polishing. The duo dropped it in the mixed liquid, which contained nitrate and some other chemicals, for some time and returned it back to her.

Later, she went to the gold smith and realised that nanutadu's weight was only 16 grams, which previously weighed 20 grams.

On a complaint lodged by Arjamma, police swung into action and arrested them.

The police seized the gold melted liquid from their possession, the release added.
