UN climate report says sweeping CO2 cuts needed
BANGKOK, May 4 (Reuters) The world needs to cut annual emissions of carbon dioxide by between 50 and 85 per cent by 2050 to keep global warming in check, a UN climate change report said today.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report, approved in Bangkok, also said keeping the rise in temperatures to within 2 degrees centigrade would cost 0.12 per cent of global Gross Domestic Product.
