Two women fatally knocked down by lorry

Kancheepuram, May 4 (UNI) Two women were killed when a sand-laden lorry ran over them near Thirukkazhukundram in the district, today.

Police said Selvi (35) and Devaki (28), both coolie labourers, were knocked down by the lorry, on its way to Thirukkazhukundram from Nerumbur, when they were proceeding for work.

While Selvi died on the spot, Devaki succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital.

Another woman who accompanied the victims had a miraculous escape.

A manhunt was launched for the absconding lorry driver.
