K'taka: Two persons killed in heavy rain

Mysore, May 4: Heavy rains during the last three days has taken a toll of 11 people with two more persons, including a woman, killed in rain related mishaps last night Police said 45 year old Yashodamma succumbed to injuries in a local hospital after a tree under which she had taken shelter fell on her as rains accompanied by strong winds hit the city.

Another person Revanna(37) was killed in a lightning strike at Kallur village on the outskirts on the city when he went to collect wood.

City Corporation Commissioner Dr Chandrasekhar told sources that more then 500 trees were uprooted in the city and damaging more then 50 vehicles. The authorities have been struggling hard to clear the trees which affected traffic at various points.

Meanwhile the entire city was under dark due to power supply failure following torrential rains. the power was expected to be restored only by the evening. The water supply to the city was also affected.
