Agartala, May 04: To strengthen the rural infrastructure, the DoNER ministry has sanctioned 145 more Community Service Centres (CSCs) for Tripura, official sources here today said.

The CSCs would also provide information services on travel, tourism and health, said State Rural Development Minister Jitendra Chowdhury.

He also added that the CSC would cater to the need of information services on railway and air ticketing, education, employment and latest price index of agricultural products.

Besides, the CSCs would also impart computer training to the rural youths, Mr Chowdhury said adding that the government had also set up a state computerisation agency to look after the CSCs.

However, he said the Union Ministry for Information Technology has entrusted the responsibility to IL& FS, a private company to facilitate the project of setting up about one lakh CSCs across the country.

Tripura had already established 40 community information centres in all rural development blocks while most of the government departments had already been provided with computer and Internet facilities.
