Top HM commander killed in South Kashmir
Srinagar, May 4 (UNI) A top commander of Hizbul Mujhideen (HM) was killed by the Jammu and Kashmir police in South Kashmir this afternoon.
A police spokesman told UNI that a search operation was launched at Kellar in South Kashmir district of Anantnag following a tip-off that some militants were hiding there.
As the police personnel were sealing the area militants opened fire. The fire was returned and in the fierce encounter a militant was killed.
The slain militant was identified as Riyaz Deva alias safullah a top commander of HM.
He was listed militant evading arrest from last ten years and involved in a number of militancy related incidents.
