T C Benjamin new principal secretary, Urban development

Mumbai, May 4 (UNI) Maharashtra Government has appointed T C Benjamin, Settlement Commissioner and Director of Land Records, Pune, as the Principal Secretary, Urban Development.

Mr Benjamin replaces Jayraj Phatak, who took over as the Muncipal commissioner of Brihanmumbai Muncipal corporation (BMC) today.

Talking to reporters here, Mr Phatak said that since Mr Benjamin will take few days to join the new post, the additional charge of urban development has been given to Swadeen Kshtriya, principal secretary (Housing) while charge of Secretary (Information) and secretary (Rural development) held by Mr Phatak will be looked after by Mr Bhushan Gagrani,secretary (Tourism).

Mr Phatak said improving sewage, water supply, Improvement of muncipal schools in Mumbai would be his priority. Similarly, issues concerning hawkers will be considered sympathetically.
