Reddy appeals for transparency in tax collection

Visakhapatnam, May 4: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy today appealed to commercial tax officials to maintain transparency in tax collection and not to harass the public.

Laying the foundation stone for the integrated office complex of the commercial tax office with an outlay of Rs 7.2 lakhs, he said the work atmosphere should be in such a way that both parties were benefited.

Dr Reddy congratulated the Visakhapatnam commercial tax division for achieving highest tax collection.

RINL Chairman and Managing Director P K Bishnoi from the public sector and Varun Motors Managing Director Prabhu Kishore from the private sector were given mementos by the Chief Minister for paying the highest tax in the region.

Earlier, he flagged off the circular train, a major tourist attraction at Kailasagiri hill implemented at a cost of Rs four crore. He laid the foundation stone for the Telugu Heritage Museum, set up by VUDA in association with the World Telugu Federation at an estimated cost of Rs four crore.

Union Minister of State for Mines T Subbirami Reddy, State Commercial Taxes Minister K Ramakrishna, Finance Minister K Rosaiah and Marketing Minister B Satyanarayana also participated in the programme.
