Patel to flag off Delhi-Surat-Delhi flight

New Delhi, May 4 (UNI) Minister for civil aviation Praful Patel will receive the inaugural flight of national carrier Indian from Delhi to Surat on May 6.

He will also flag off the inaugural flight from Surat to Delhi the same day. This will be Surat's first air link to the national capital. Indian will also be the first carrier to provide air connectivity to this city after a long time.

The daily direct flight is expected to provide much-needed air link between two cities. The new flight will operate with a brand new Airbus A319.

Meanwhile, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has upgraded the Surat airport for operations of wide-bodied aircraft like B737-800 and A321. This has being done at a cost of Rs 68.81 crore.
