No evidence for existence of Ramar bridge: Minister
Chennai, May 4: The Union Minerals and Mines Ministry after extensive research has declared that there was no evidence to show the existence of Ramar bridge between Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi, Information Minister Parithi Ilamvazhuthi sever in the State Assembly today. Intervening the debate on grants for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment, he said the Ministry headed by the then BJP leader Uma Bharti had undertaken extensive study to find whether there was any man-made structure under the sea. But came out with a conclusive decision that there was no such structure.
He said the Ministry had sunk bore to a depth of 230 metres and came out with a report that there was no Ramar bridge.
''If the AIADMK members had any doubt about this, they could consult Ms Uma Bharti and get clarified'', he said, amidst laughter.
