LSI holds Indian operations key to its growth

Bangalore, May 4: Major global player in the Semicon and storage areas LSI today said its Indian operations are key to its future growth and the local research contribution encompassed all areas of activity.

LSI Senior Vice-President (Corporate Planning and Marketing) Phil Brace told newspersons here that LSI Logic had completed merger with Agere Systems and the new entity, LSI Corporation, enjoyed a smooth transition as the area of business was complementary to both the companies.

He said the Indian operations functioning out of Bangalore and Pune accounted for nearly a quarter of 4200 engineers and they played a major role in various developmental activities. ''We will continue recruitment in India'' he said, but did not give out the numbers.

LSI was uniquely positioned as a semiconductor and storage systems leader with an unparalleled innovation pipeline and a broad array of competitive, customer valued products and solutions in large and growing market.

Mr Brace said moving forward the combined scale and resources would strengthen LSI's ability to create value for customers, mostly original equipment manufacturers.

The two companies had a combined revenue of over 3.5 billion dollars for 12 months ended December 31 last year.
