Largest army recruitment rally begins in temple town

Tirupati, May 4 (UNI) A week-long mega army recruitment rally began in this temple town under the aegis of the head quarters recruiting zone Chennai to enrol eligible candidates from seven districts of Andhra Pradesh into the Indian Army.

The recruitment which began yesterday, was the second largest in Andhra Pradesh for those aspiring to join the Indian army from Chittoor, Nellore, Kadapa, Anantapur, Kurnool, Guntur and Krishna districts.

A written test will be conducted for selected candidates at Guntur on May 27.

Zonal Recruitment Officer and Deputy Director General A M R Prakash, who is supervising the recruitment process said there were no Reservations except for ex-servicemen and sportspersons.

The state's quota would be decided on the basis of the population as per the 2001 census.

The recuritment rally would also be held at Vizianagaram from May 10 to 17, Warangal from July 2 to 8 and Kadapa from July 4 to 7, he added.
