India donates 297 mln to construct maternity centre

Kathmandu, May 4: India will donate Rs 29,728,919 for the construction of a maternity centre at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu in addition to two other projects 8 in Nepal.

The Indian embassy said in a press release that three separate Memoranda of Understandings (MoUs) were signed yesterday by the Embassy of India, Kathmandu and Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital for providing a grant co-operation of Rs 2,97,28,919 for the establishment of a maternity center.

MoU's were also signed between District Development Committee, Sinduli and District Hospital, Sinduli for a grant of Rs 56,50,965 for the construction of three health post buildings, one each in Bhumaneswori VDC, Baseswor VDC, and Kusheshwor VDC of Dumja in Sindhuli and Walling Municipality, while Walling, Syangja and Graho, Ghyagling Primary Health Center Coordination Committee of Syangja were provided with a grant of Rs 35,51,226 for construction of Graho Ghyagling Primary Health Center, Syangja, the press statement said.

Under the MoU, monitoring committees have been constituted for each project consisting of representatives from the respected hospital management committees.
